Finding Perfect Among The Mundane

Chili beans are simmering away on the stove.

Grocery ads lay open on the table - pen and pad of paper at the ready to jot down our needs, wants and whims.

List Making, it's what I do.

Laundry is churning away in the garage - the rush of water heard through the walls.

I'm sitting here typing away while stealing glances at the blustery day that lies just beyond the sliding glass door. Despite the gray, the room is filled with diffused light.

It's perfect.

This...right now, right here.

I guess what may be perfect about this moment is I seem to have stepped from the edge of the unconscious storm that constantly rages in my head into the eye.

It's peaceful here.

I love finding the perfect moments among the mundane.

My brain has stopped the constant droning of what needs to get done. It has stopped screaming about wasted time, unstructured futures and the shoulda-woulda-coulda's that yammer away constantly.

I'm not sure how I got here - considering how tired my mind is from the constant influx of negative thoughts, two restless nights of little 'real' sleep and the teenage daughter who woke up in a foul, F.O.U.L. mood this morning.

But I'm here.

In a few minutes I'll finish off the last bit of my coffee, turn off the beans, gather my lists and then head out the door.

I'll have a ready smile for the other shoppers at the grocery store...because they might need it, in case they haven't had their own perfect moment yet.

I hope you've had yours today and I hope you are able to find one - that perfect moment - in every day.

Peace

  3. I love finding the perfect moments of peace and bliss in each day. We have to grab onto them. They are what makes the rest of the hectic busyness bearable!
Here's a post I shared last fall about one of those moments in my life.

  4. I love those moments! I have them when I feel like I can do random stuff (even house stuff) and not worry that I'm falling down on doing work. I hope the rest of your day was wonderful!
