All Balls

All Balls is a term much like 'bat outta hell' and 'full steam ahead'. It's used in reference to someone who gets a wild hair (or is it hare....that would hurt...anyhooo) up their booty and runs with it, like a new idea or hobby or whatever.

I'm one of those people. I'm a jump in without checking for rocks (or how cold) it is kinda person. I will go all balls into something and then often figure out that I can no longer touch bottom and I'm treading water while being circled by sharks. Yup, that's moi. I don't know why I'm like that. I don't know what sort of defective gene I have that makes me a risk taker (well, a benign risk that is).

A friend of mine just made a comment, and I quote: "Seriously, woman, don't you have enough on your plate?"

Of course, she is referring to being a student, a volunteer, trying to rid my house of corrosive food-stuffs, making food from scratch, buying local foods AND now my latest desire.....to make bread (and maybe cheese).

O.k. the bread thing I'd like to tackle now. The cheese thing, well......maybe sometime down the road. Once school starts my time will be uber compact and I know that I will likely fall off the wagon. I know this because I get so easily overwhelmed with stuff, that I will likely neglect one of the duties mentioned above. The reading, the homework, the kids activities, the family activities, the house and the mountain of paperwork and now I'm adding cooking from scratch, and volunteering. Oi!

Oh wait, did I mention we are thinking of converting the backyard into garden space to grow our own veggies to supplement our groceries? No, I didn't? Oh, well......forget you just read that.

Ya see how these things sorta snowball.

I'm really not a glutton for punishment and I really don't go around bemoaning how busy I am and how hectic my life is (I just journal about it once in awhile....but I really don't complain often), because I have nothing to prove to anyone and I don't need to get into a competition with other mom's over who's the busiest or most stressed (that really is annoying by the way.....if it's that bad, then just say NO!....ANYWAY, I digress).

So, in answer to my good friend L, yes....I do have enough on my plate and it's likely that I'll drop something to avoid turning into a Moaning Mama. But, I have learned to say no and I'm getting better at avoiding situations that suck the life right out of me (like, doing book orders for my daughters class....oh no, not this year thank you very much).

So, I'll be dragging my family with me, kicking and screaming I'm sure, on this little adventure. Hehehe.....who am I kidding, they just nod their heads and say "O.k." and then just wait until I get bored and move on to something else. Ah.....they do love me!
