Oh Yum

Guess who was up and at 'em early this morning?

And guess who was at the track by 8:30(ish), itching to walk lap after lap with a good friend?

Yup, you're lookin' at her...well, you're looking at her blog - same diff.

So, after hoofing it for a whole two laps Dear Friend needed coffee and, the loving and supporting friend that I am certainly, I couldn't deny her.

Two laps are better than none. And that whole 'sweat' thing, really...it's very over-rated. Sitting in a coffee shop while all moist and sticky and stinky is just....so unsavory.

So, we spent almost an hour and a half together, enjoying each others company and vowing to meet again very soon.

What a great start to the week, which happens to begin on the dreaded Monday, so it's a double yippee when it can start off well.

I don't realize how much I miss the company of my friends until it comes time to leave them again. But, as you'll recall from yesterday's blog, I have a new goal to spend time with friends more regularly. I'm already ahead of the game!

On the drive home I was thinking about how much I love to send...

I was the Card Queen, I sent them to people for no particular reason other than to send a card.

But, alas...I don't do it much anymore.

And I'm extremely unhappy about it and resolve to change my slackitude.

I mean look at my card box, it just screams "send me so that I may deliver giggles". Yes, my cards speak to me, don't yours?

As I sit here typing this blog, the homemade garlic rosemary focaccia bread that I have baking is filling my house with deliciousness.

If you were to walk in the door right now your nose would catch a wiff and you'd levitate off the ground and then speed float toward the kitchen (like they do in cartoons)...you would, totally...it smells THAT good in here.

I got the recipe from one of my favorite food blogs, Budget Bytes. Just click the link and it will take you to this specific recipe. But first, here is a glimpes at what's in store:

The dough had been fermenting overnight and was a bubbly ooey gooey wet concoction. The kind of stuff that you just love to thrust your hands into and play with its squishy goodness. But it doesn't speak to me...I mean, really...that would just be crazy.

No matter how many times you blink, you are not going to get a clearer image. I have no idea what happened...eh.

The garlic was crushed into the olive oil to season it. The 'floaters' are rosemary that got jealous of all the attention the garlic was getting and jumped in. Swirl it around a bit and it's like an herb hot tub party - better move on before things get out of hand.

Then you turn the sticky mass onto a baking sheet and poke-stretch-manhandle it into submission. Then you drizzle it with the olive oil, sprinkle with rosemary and bake...and then...

Yea - it was as good as it looks. It was better than it looks. I do admit that I tweaked the original recipe a touch...and if anyone is interested in knowing how, just ask.

I'm going to sign off now to sample it some more. You know, just to make sure the middle is as good as the edge. One can never be too careful when it comes to culinary perfection. ;-)

Peace
